Doring Bay is a picturesque little fishing village on the West Coast of South Africa. It is situated 7 km south of Strandfontein and is 350km north of Cape Town. The crayfish factory, jetty, harbour and lighthouse is the main features of Doring Bay and creates a beautiful picture. Before the town was established, the bay was used as an anchorage on the sea trading route and provisions off loaded from the boats were transported to Vanrhynsdorp by camels. Doring Bay has a restaurant and pub, accommodation, a supermarket, shops, liquor stores, a fish retailer, Post Office agency and a clinic twice a week. In addition to basic groceries, phone cards, cell-phone airtime and lottery tickets can be purchased. Petrol and Diesel can't be purchased on a Sunday, so make sure to stock up on Saturday. If you are seeking peace and quiet or pursuing nature, Doring Bay is the perfect destination. The scenic beauty of this solitary coast is complemented by its plentiful sea life, with seafood dishes like mussels, crayfish or line fish and good wines of the area, offering the visitor a rich and unique culinary experience. For all your accommodation needs and wonderful seafood, contact Reynold and Elize van Wyk at Doringbaai.
